The infamous Loma Prieta earthquake occurred in northern California on October 17 1989 at 5:04 p.m. local time. Four people died in San Francisco's Marina District, four buildings were destroyed by fire, and seven buildings collapsed. (Another 63 damaged structures were judged too dangerous to live in.) Nate Butler had a beloved friend who lived in the heart of the Marina District, and Nate wrote his song "Marina Stomp" when he found out his friend was fine and unhurt. This one's for you, Paul!
(Master Chef Paul Canales himself later sang the lead vocal on a different recording of this song this is just the demo recorded when I wrote the song for Paul.)
